It used to be, when my 3/260 was my mail and news host, that when I tip'ped from it and then terminated tip (using ~. or some such) that the modem would hang up and all would be well. Now, my 3/50 is the host that the (same) modem is attached to with an identical serial port and configuration file setup as the 3/260 with the same cable, even, and I note that when I exit tip, the tip program quits but the modem stays offhook and registers noise with the RD and SD lights (USR Courier 2400e with error correction turned off). Both Suns are running 3.5 and are setup to dial-in/dial-out on the same line. The kernal is setup to recognize carrier detect on the line. Anybody have any ideas? Is tip not sending the correct termination string to the modem?
