I have an old Hayes Smartmodem 1200 (4 years) which was working fine with my Heathkit H19 terminal. I brought it to work as a temporary modem for our Unix box, and due to certain circumstances I had to hook it up to a Mac running Red Rhyder and then SmartCom. Well that did it, I don't know what Smart Com sent the thing, but I haven't been able to get to respond to my terminal since, even though I've since restored the original switch settings. In fact I set up my old modem and the new Hayes 1200, which works, with the exact same switch settings (outside of #9 and 10) and the old one still won't work. The new one has been only on the Unix box or hooked up to my H19. In case it's of any use, the original settings are 1 8 d u d u u d u d It will echo my commands, SD and RD lights light up whenever I type any characters, but I don't get any other response, i.e. no OK to my AT or ATZ command. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Thanks, I'd really appreciate the help. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Yun-seng Chao; Cincinnati Electronics, Corp.; Cincinnati, Ohio UUCP: {uccba.uc.edu, decuac!uccba, uunet!sdrc, ukma!spca6}!cesbws!yun VOICE: (513)-733-6370
