This is not gospel (maybe not even good blasphemy), but I was told by someone at a recent show that the Packard Bell modems are OEM versions of ZOOM modems (at least some of them). I have used and recommended several models of ZOOM's with no problems, although I and my clients do not exactly beat modems to death or use them in hostile (noise-wise) environments.
