[comp.dcom.modems] Airline Reservation systems protocols

logex@altger.UUCP (logex) (01/11/89)

Hi all:

There is a service here, that offers its servives
mainly to travel agencies and airline agencies, they
offer something similar to the 'Oficial Airline Guide
(tm)'. Its commercial name here is SERTEL.

The access to this system is made thru the switched
telephone network or thru leased lines, but BOTH
methods are synchronus, according to CCITT v.22 bis
in respecto to the modem characteristics.

The communications protocol used for this system is
called ALC (Airline Link Control), and the software
used (i guess on the mainframe hosts) is made by a
company called Continental Computer Services.

Here are some recomended systems (PC's) for using
with this system, (as said by the system's manage-
mente people):
IBM PS/2, Unisys PW2 systems, Televideo Teletravel
system, Memorex Telex, Megadata system.

What we need, is technical information/description
concerning this protocol ALC, and information about
similar systems offering travel and airline stuff to
the public or to travel/airline agencies. Also infor
mation about the special characteristics that the
systems above mentioned may have (a synch port in the
first place, i guess...) to use SERTEL.

(I mean just technical information wanted.)

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance, please
respond by email.

If interest is shown,i will sumarize to the network.

  Ed.
