I have a 2400 baud modem that I purchased about a year and a half ago, but never used, because I didn't own a computer/terminal to put it on. Now that I did try it, I discovered that it does not work, and I am stuck because I believe that the company (Advance Computer Technologies, of Sutton, Mass.) is out of business. The modem is still under warrenty (ha ha). I disassembled it to try to find any visible damage to the board, ie. big black rings around chips, On/Off switches set to off, etc., but I didn't find anything. The board itself is manufactured by another (possibly larger and still in business??) company called Lightspeed Inc. Incidentally the problem with the modem is: It dials, it transmits and receives a carrier, it says CONNECT 2400, and then it hangs up. I've tried it on several remote modems, with every reasonable configuration of dip switches and soft switches on or in the thing. Can anyone tell me if either of the two companies listed above might still be around so I can get it fixed. Or, can anyone refer me to someone else who might be able to fix it? Or, does anyone want to buy a really neat electronic paper weight? Any help is greatly appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morals: 1. I had exactly the same problem... turned out to be a cabling error. If you need the exact pin-to-pins, check MacUser (Dec, I think). They had a large article on cables. If that doesn't fly, e-mail me w/ your comfig, and I'll dig up the info. todd krein krein@dg.UUCP -- Todd Krein krein@dg.UUCP
