This is the umpteenth inquiry of this type but I feel I have somewhat distinct criteria so here goes anyway ... I would appreciate advice on modem selection based upon the following criteria: 1. Support available from the manufacturer, preferrably USA, not having to deal with a distributor who either doesnt know anything but the bottom line or who may declare bankruptcy tomorrow. 2. 2400 baud capability but fancy optimizations (MNP, etc) are not necessary or worth much added expense. Will be used for simple terminal emulation and limited file transfer over local, fairly reliable lines. As noise resistant as possible but based upon quality design and construction, not algorithmic error recovery schemes - we have a dumb host with inexpensive modems to deal with. 3. Good reputation, experience, and a reasonably long warranty (1-2 years, not 90 days or until you open the box, whichever occurs first). 4. Reasonable price - not bottom dollar but not Hayes either. Thanks for any advice. Jeff Sicherman jajz801@calstate.bitnet
