[comp.dcom.modems] broken uucp turnaround

ron@mlfarm.UUCP (Ronald Florence) (07/02/89)

Our uucico does not execute the turnaround from SLAVE mode to MASTER
mode correctly at 2400 baud.

If we call another system there is no problem with traffic both ways.
If another system calls us at 2400 baud, their traffic here arrives,
then (according to the debug logs), when they send the `H' indicating
that they have no more traffic, they do not receive the `HN' that this
system thinks it has sent to indicate that there is traffic here
waiting.

	 *** TOP *** - role=0, rmesg - '' PROCESS: msg - H
	 HUP:
    	 wmesg 'H'N
	 *** TOP *** - role=1,
	 Ifn - 0, ret ioctl - 0

The calling systems use Trailblazer Plus modems, running on 2400 baud
serial lines with no flow control. I have not tried the connection
with another 2400 baud modem calling, but the turnaround works
perfectly when the calling system uses a Hayes modem at 1200 baud.

The system here is a ps2/80, running SCO Xenix version 2.2.3. The
uucico is the old (pre HDB) version. We have tried both a Ventel M-24
and a Multitech 224E modem here. The problem is the same with both.

I would very much appreciate any suggestions by email. Thanks.
