Congratulations, you have the worst of all possible combinations. The DMF32 is only marginally able to talk to "smart modems" due to what one might call "fascist" modem control. You could probably run the TB fairly happily on the DZ, but only at 9600 baud. You might want to get that working, while preparing yourself for the frustrations of the DMF32. > I can tip to the modem and then give ATDT commands manually, but > whenever we try uucico it hangs up in some routine called gen_setup and > I have to CTRL-Z to get out of it. > > Here's the modem configuration Telebit recommends for a DMZ32 > > AT &f s07=80 s45=0 s52=2 s53=2 s54=3 s58=3 s64=1 s66=1 s111=30 q6 x0 &w If you have a T1000 or a TB+ with the 5.00 roms or have upgraded, try the S54=5 setting. Due to some kludges in the DMF32 driver, this should work 'normally'. If not, you either lose the benefit of modem control or have to use the :si: option to allow 'blind' converse with the modem, since the DMF won't "recieve" characters from the modem if carrier detect isn't asserted. You also will have great difficulty getting the "shared line" facility to work without reasonable modem control interpretation.
