Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions for solving my Telebit
TrailBlazer Plus problem. It turned out that the problem was half
ours and half theirs. Due to the way uunet disconnects, the modem was
not dropping carrier until after the DTR line had gone high again.
That was easily fixed by getting a new version of the driver that
sleeps for 2 seconds on a disconnect. This allows enough time for the
modem to drop the carrier and the tty respawns correctly.
Our problem with uunet calling us turned out to be a combination of
things. We had a bad shell name in our passwd file, and they had a
bad entry in their Systems file. Each one separtly would have been
enough, but together they made the problem even more difficult to
solve.
