I have a Telebit Trailblazer PC modem, which is a Trailblazer built onto a printed circuit board that fits inside a PC. To the PC it looks like an async card, and even has an 8250 UART soldered in. The main difference from a regular Trailblazer is that it has no EPROM, so if you don't like the factory default settings, you have to be sure to set them when you come up and not to type ATZ at it. The problem is that I cannot get it to go into uucp spoof mode. I set register S111 to 30, like the manual says but when I watch uucp connections it says CONNECT FAST rather than CONNECT FAST/UUCP. Could I be doing something wrong, or is it broken? Here are my settings: ATE0S0=1 S50=0 S52=1 S53=3 S54=3 S58=0 S68=0 S111=30 To make sure spoof mode is on, I set S111=30 in the uucp dialers string as well, and typing ATS111? at the modem does return 30. It seems to communicate as well as would be expected in PEP non-uucp mode, and works just great as an expensive 2400 bps modem. It passes its internal diagnostics, and reports its version number as BB4.00. If it's broken, is it possible to get this fixed? I bought it used so I don't have a factory invoice. While I'm at it, will Telebit or anybody else swap the 8250 for a 16550 so I can run at 19200 reliably? I'm not ready to take a soldering iron to the card myself yet. -- John R.
