A client of mine made mention of a magazine article that credited an individual as being the inventor of the modem, but could not remember the name of the magazine, or the name of the inventor. They asked me, thinking I would know about these things. I feel I ought to know, but I draw a blank. I have looked in a few handy sources dealing with history of computing and history of communication -- nothing. Can anyone on the net tell me if there is a single individual that could properly be called the inventor of the modem, and if so, what is his/her name? Short of that, I would appreciate any pointers to suggested literature on the subject. I know this isn't the normal technical and product comparison kind of posting, but I subscribe to the idea that the history of technology is important, too. Thanks in advance. -- Guy Shaw Paralogics paralogics!shaw@uunet.uu.net or uunet!paralogics!shaw
