[comp.dcom.modems] RS-232 9-pin Connector Standard

jacc@tekig5.PEN.TEK.COM (Jac Colby) (09/23/89)

EIA/TIA is in the process of standardizing the 9-pin D-shell connector for
use with RS-232 circuits. It is standarization effort PN-2231
(TR-30.2/89-04019R1). I do not have a copy of the proposed draft, but it
appears to be similar or the same as is commonly found on IBM-PCs.
Incidentally, pin 7 is defined as both RTS (circuit 105) or Ready for
Receiving (circuit 133); the latter supports the "RTS"/CTS flow control
handshake found on todays modems.
