[comp.dcom.modems] Using TB+ in MNP mode

amos@placer1.COM (Kevin Amos) (10/02/89)

Could someone please tell me which registers I have to set
inorder to get 2 TB+'s to work in MNP mode.

Thanks

What firmware level are you using? For 5.0, registers 95 and 96 are
what you are looking for. However, use MNP only for dialing out.
When I tried enabling incoming MNP calls with S95=2 (auto-reliable),
it would take a mixture of MNP and non-MNP calls for awhile and then
mysteriously start refusing to CONNECT to non-MNP callers (thought it
would still accept PEP calls). Yes, I checked to make sure S95 was
still 2 (rather than 1). I vaguely remember having to toggle power to
restore the modem's sanity. I also think incoming PEP calls would
reset the modem. But I receive more slow calls than PEP calls so I
couldn't live with the problem.

I regularly use MNP to dial out (by putting S95=1 in the UUCP chat
script but leaving S95=0 stored in non-volatile memory) and have had
no problems.

I've had no other problems with the 5.0 firmware. The modem also
seems to go off into the weeds far less often (a problem discussed
here several months ago).
