Can anyone tell me how to shut off the autodisconnect "feature" on the Hayes Personal Modem? The modem automatically drops the connection after 10 minutes of no data transfer, I don't consider this a feature. Unfortunately, the modem comes with no technical documentation, so I don't know if this feature is programmable or not. I'd settle for setting it to 255 minutes or something like that. Also, could someone email me the Hayes command set and a description of the standard registers? thanks in advance, -- Mike Carlton, UC Berkeley Computer Science ~ carlton@ernie.berkeley.edu ...!ucbvax!ernie!carlton Manana

How about the modem control lines (DTR, DSR, CARDET) on the Hayes Personal 2400? There are no technical docs but a quick look with a voltmeter shows CARDET always asserted and the modem doesn't hang up when DTR(pin 20 on the DB25) is brought low. Both of these behaviors were good reasons to use a Hayes 1200 as a dial-in/dial-out Unix modem. Is there a way to enable intelligent use of these signals? Thanks! Please respond by e-mail if possible as I may not get around to here for a while. -Paul Bame paul@hpldola.hp.com uunet!prisma!hp-lsd!paul 719 590 5557
