So it might be possible that Telebit only needs a ROM upgrade to get it to recognize V.32 besides its own protocol. > > V.32 requires lots more hardware (part for trellis encoding, part for > echo cancellation, etc.) than v.22bis modems. I believe Telebit uses trellis encoding in their multi-channel scheme (they divide the telephone band into 512 channels). Anyway, I have a TB+ but have not upgraded the ROM in it so I don't know if that's all I need to get V.32 If that is so, I'd be a happy camper :>. Justified the large sum of money (it was for me at the time) I spent on the TB+. -- Tin Le -- Tin Le | UUCP: {wyse, claris, uunet}!aimt!tinle Sr. Software Engineer | Internet: tinle@aimt.uu.net AIM Technology | Santa Clara, CA 95054 | "'tis an ill wind that blows no mind..."

There is a ROM upgrade to fix some bugs and to implement a higher level of MNP, but in order to upgrade to V.32 you have to send the modem back to Telebit for a hardware upgrade.
