The June 1989 issue of BYTE reviewed several error-correcting 2400-bps modems. Among the four that received their strongest recommendation, the E-Tech Bullet E2400M has the lowest price. I am particularly attracted to it because of its ability to handle noisy lines, in addition to the low price. I circled the indicated Inquiry number of the Reader Service Card, but many months later, I've received nothing from them. So I tried calling them to ask for some product literature. The person who took my call said she'd send out the literature right away. You've guessed it: it's been over a month, and I've received nothing. So we have the unfortunate combination of a good modem, good price, and lousy support (apparently). The last of these is important only if the modem has reliability problems, or if the documentation is so poor that assistance is required (or anything else that might involve dealing with the manufacturer). Thus I'd like to ask if anybody out there has one of these modems and what their experience with it has been? Please e-mail responses to tholen@uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu Thanks in advance. --Dave Tholen

I can sort of see not sending out information immediately to people who rewuested it through the reader service cards, but if you make a long distance call to ask for it, they should have better response. I'd also like to hear from anyone else who has one, although because I'm not sure who much I'd make user of MNP right now, I'm leaning towards the Zoom 2400 baud modem for $129, especially since I get a 30 day money back guarantee if I'm not satisfied with it.
