[comp.dcom.modems] Odd question perhaps

dewey@sequoia.UUCP (Dewey Henize) (01/19/90)

We and know and love the ability of Telebit TBs to handle baud/bps type
conversion such that a host can know what speed it's talking to the
modem at without giving a darn about the real connect speed.

It works great - but are there machines that do the same thing for just
lower speeds and less dollars? I'm interested in setting up a bank of
modems to run at a max of perhaps 2400 but avoid having the host have to
worry about speed matching.

Perhaps this is just a pipe dream? Or do some such critters exist out
there?

Pointers welcomed. E-mail or post. I've never caught any mention of these
kinds of modems, but I only read about 100 usenet groups - I could easily
have missed it :-)

Thanks in advance

Dewey Henize
