[comp.dcom.modems] Zoom 2400R Modems

I'm considering the purchase of several Zoom 2400R modems. Is there
anyone out there with experiences to report considering this product?
I'd of course be interested in all comments pro and con. Thanks for
taking time out of your busy day!

Steve

A friend of mine bought a Zoom 2400 baud modem and let me use it on my Sun
workstation at work...

It seems to be pretty Hayes compatible, but its call progress monitoring
is reasonable, but not as good as a USR. I like the modem, the external one
is a very good deal as it has all the status indicator LEDs available on
the front of the box.

The only down side is that it sometimes has a hard time connecting to a modem
that called at a different baud rate than the last call it received. It
just sits there and refuses to lock to carrier. (At least at 2400 and 1200
baud; we didn't try 300 baud).

All in all... the modem works very well and YOU CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE!!!
