I have just acquired a Novation series 4000 1200 baud modem and have no idea how to make it function in a correct manner. I hope that someone on the net has at least a little experience with this ancient 1978 piece of equipment. Now.... my other problem... the current modem I am using is an apple model 1200 modem, the problem is that I can't seem to get it to function at 1200 baud either into this machine at Oregon State or into my father's machine at his business (modem on Dad's machine is Practical Peripherals 2400 MNP level 5). The problem is that whenever I log on to this machine I get so much line noise that I can't even type a thing through it. I have tried to log on to these same machines with a Practical Peripherals 2400 MNP level 5 and have had no problems whatever. In fact, I cant even log in to my father's machine at 300 baud and get a clean transmission. Any help on either or both of these problems would be greatly apreciated. Thank You in advance.
