[comp.dcom.modems] Summary of modem technology wanted

I'm looking for a good summary of current modem technology.  I'm not
very familiar with the current set of features and terminology.  For
starters, I'd like to know what these are:

          PEP
          MNP
          v.32
          v.41

Pointers to magazine/journal articles or any other sources of information
would be greatly appreciated.
