Hi, I've been watching discussions on data compression algorithms float by for a while now. And I've just received in the mail, from Telebit, a paper discussing various compression algorithms and their performance. It looks fairly thorough, and has lots of good references. It's twelve pages long, so I'm not going to type it in. And I'm not going to risk a summary. Maybe someone else can do this. Anyway, I had to call up and ask for it, they didn't just send it out. So you may want to call up and get your own copy. Title: "Facts About Modem Data Compression" Author: Telebit Corp. Phone: 1-800-TELEBIT ++ Enjoy -- Bob Gorman Relational Semantics, Inc. I called Telebit for my copy, and when they asked me where I heard about it, I told them it was this newsgroup. The woman I was talking to said they had had a bunch of responses and people had just said "the news" as to where they had heard. I read her Bob Gorman's posting, and she recognized his name. --henry schaffer n c state univ
