[comp.dcom.modems] UK Trailblazer T1000 -> T2500 upgrades??

sda@edc.UUCP (Stephen Ayers) (08/14/90)

I am trying to get better throughput/reliability on my TrailBlazer
connection from Billerica Mass. to Livingston Scotland. The connection is
used for both interactive typing and uucp traffic. Connected to each
modem are sun-3s.

The modem in the U.S. was purchased at least 2 years ago. The software
version is BA4.00.

The modem in the UK was purchased a year ago from Dowty UK. The software
version is CA4.02B0.

The problems I am having are:

	1) low throughput in PEP mode (~600cps)
	2) interactive typing speed is very slow
	3) modem in US is never able to call out and establish a PEP connection
with modem in UK. Always drops to 2400baud.

My questions are:

	1) Can you provide me with a set of S register settings that should
		work best for international connections
	2) Is there an upgrade nessesary for the U.S. based modem?
	3) Is there an upgrade nessesary for the U.K. based modem
	4) Will upgrades available in the states work with our UK modem?
(apparently Dowty does not have the latest upgrades available)
	5) Can both modems be upgraded to T2500's

Thanks for your time!
