[comp.dcom.modems] History of MNP

Anyone out there know some of the history of MNP? I'm writing up my M.Sc. 
thesis at the minute and, since I do discuss MNP in some detail, I'd like to be 
able to say when it made its debut and the dates and details of any milestones 
in its development.

I'd really appreciate any help on this one as I can't seem to locate this 
information. 

I have every intention of acknowledging the person who provides this 
information. Just think, your name in print :-). Any takers?

Try writing to Microcom.  MNP = Microcom Networking Protocol.
