Now that a transmit-only 4800-bps FAX modem is a $50-option on the side of a 2400 bps asynch modem, I wonder if it is time to buy one. [One of the Mac mailorder places is offering a 2400 asynch + 4800 FAX-xmit for $149.00 + $3 S&H]. The package says it includes software. Is it likely to also contain the documentation needed to connect it to a serial port on - say - a SUN and write a text-to-fax transmission program ? Does anyone here have one of these animals ? Is the asynch interface a command interface or a bitmap interface ? How hard is it to program ? -- / Lars Poulsen, SMTS Software Engineer CMC Rockwell lars@CMC.COM

Are these 4800 baud fax modems able to send to any fax machine commonly in use? -- Bob Rogers rogers@stpaul.ncr.com NCR Network Products Div. (or) rogers@pnet51.cts.com St. Paul, MN GEnie: R.C.ROGERS
