Hello ModemFolk, I am testing a new TB2500 over sattelite phone lines. I have read around about the special registers that should be used : S121 : Echo Supressor compensation. S120 : Packet length (0=Micro/small/Large, 12=Small/Large only, etc.) J6 S36 : "Compansion" compensation : This sets the length of a "beep" to be sent ahead of packets. This avoids packets getting "clipped" because of quiet intervals before them. I have been playing around with combinations of the above registers, and have found S121=1 S120=12 J6 s36=1 to work ok : I get around 7000 bps going out over sattelite lines with bad delays. I have a problem with the J6 S36 register though, it seems to be non-negotiable. My modem uses J6 S36=1, but the other side doesn't, I get only half the typical throughput on incoming data as I do on outgoing data. Any ideas about how to set the other side's J6 S36 ? I intend to have the final working connection to UUNET, and I don't think they allow their modems to accept remote commands (right ? :-). Anyone out there have experience with sattelite TB connections, which he can share with me? I will summerize data if there is enough interest. Advthanks, Gil. -- -------------------------------------------------------------------- | Gil Tene "Some days it just doesn't pay | | devil@techunix.technion.ac.il to go to sleep in the morning." | --------------------------------------------------------------------
