[comp.dcom.modems] commodore 128 as a terminal...

kinleysi@latcs1.oz.au (____> KINA <____) (09/19/90)

I need some advice on setting up a commodore 128 as a terminal at
home.

I currently have a viatel modem and wonder if it can be reprogrammed
to connect to an auto speed micom commputer connection device, from
there I will be using it to talk to both unix and vax machines.

If not, can anyone suggest a cheap solution. ( ie modems to buy,
						  terminal emulator
						  programs etc...)

Any help greatly appreciated !!!!

If the modem can be convinced to act like a Hayes modem, I suggest DesTerm
128. DesTerm (current version 2.0) has decent VT-102 emulation (we tested it
on Unix and VMS)

DISCLAIMER: Yes, that's my name in the DesTerm credits. I'm biased.
