[comp.dcom.modems] Why won't my T2500 do V.32? It's broken, that's why!

chip@tct.uucp (Chip Salzenberg) (09/24/90)

After I posted my request for help with V.32 on a T2500, Telebit tech
support called back. They lived up to their good reputation. The
tech dude spent about half an hour trying to make my modem generate
V.32 answer tones. The reseat-the-daughterboard trick did NOT work.

Resolution: They're sending us a replacement T2500. When it arrives,
we'll send our modem with an RMA number on the box.

Moral: If you have trouble, and if you can wait for the callback, let
Telebit tech support do their thing. They're a bunch of hoopy froods.

I just had a 2500 go bad myself. Same symptoms as everyone else is reporting
(works fine in PEP, but no luck in V.32). It took me several days to get
through to Telebit tech support. They seem to be busy folks. Once I got
though, they were very helpfull. They fixed my modem in two days with 'normal'
priority. I was able to get 'same day' service when one of my Telebits failed
earlier this year.

Moral: I agree with you. Telebit tech support is good.

Let me jump on this one too. I had some difficulties with a
modem that were totally not Telebit's fault, but they went out of
their way to make things right even though it was clear that they
didn't have to. Good product + good support = very happy
customer.

Note, however, that uunet!telebit!modems goes to the marketing
department, not tech support, so you will likely be frustrated
beyond your wildest fantasies if you try that route for anything
other than getting the phone number of tech support. Save yourselves
the trouble: call 1-800-TELEBIT and don't waste time with email.

Gee, too bad they don't do this for TB+ upgrades to T2500 as well.
