I've been having trouble connecting via V.32 to a Telebit 2500 from my Multitech 932 modem. Symptoms include carrier dropping soon after connection, and connections dropping after a little while. I suspect noisy telephone circuits. However, how do I prove that my lines are clean without paying $$$ to the telephone company? I've even dropped a new line right from the junction box on the outside wall to the modem with no better results. Does the telco have a way to test the phone lines compatibility with a modem? E.g. a tone sweep or measurement while my modem is on-line? Any ideas? Jeff jeffg@sgi.com

The problem is convincing them that a 'voice' line should have more quality than what is needed for a 'voice' conversation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pat Rhodes MNOP Ltd (404)- 972-5430 VP Lilburn (atlanta) GA 30247 Fax: 978-4741 emory!mnopltd!neal ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
