The December 11 issue of PC Magazine contains a review of seven high-speed modems. The collection includes products from ATI, Hayes, Microcom, Multi-Tech, Telebit, UDS, and US Robotics. Noticable by their absence are the recent products Practical Peripherals and Intel. The article probably went to print before they were available. The article is useful in that it can function as a beginner's tutorial in the issues, terms, and technology of modems in general and modern high-speed modems in particular; as well as proposing a methodology of comparison between the products.
