[comp.dcom.modems] Help regarding modems for Commodore 64

kapil@zarquon.uchicago.edu (Kapil Paranjape) (12/04/90)

A friend who owns a Commodore 64 would like to use it for
communications. Can anyone help me find/suggest:
1. A 1200/2400 baud Hayes compatible modem that will easily connect to
this machine.
2. Some communications software for this modem.
Thanks in advance.
Kapil.

Sorry about use of bandwith, but we have no Reply function here...

Aprotek makes an inexpensive 2400 baud modem (about $80) that connects
directly to the C64 User Port (plugs in). Not good to run a BBS with
but great for telecommunications. They also have a 1200 for about $60.
Tenex carries them and you can buy them from Aprotek directly (somewhere
in Oregon). Ask for Minimodem-C 1200 or 2400.

Best C64 program IMHO is Novaterm 9.1 (do NOT get an earlier version as
they are buggy). It has ANSI/ASCII/C= GFX capabilities...
