[comp.dcom.modems] Switch setting on a Avatex-1200hc

rajkumar@plains.NoDak.edu (A. Joseph Rajkumar) (12/22/90)

I would kindly appreciate if somebody could send me the switch
settings for the Avatex 1200hc external modem. There seems to
be two different models of the Avatex 1200hc modem. One of which
has 8 switches at the back near the adapter plug with an extra
inscription "EPG" and another model with 12 switches on the bottom
with the inscription "EDG".

I am in need of the switch setting for the 8 switch one which says
"EPG" at the back on a blue board near the adapter socket.
On the front it has three switches saying Data/Voice, 300/1200,
ON/OFF. I have give this extra information to know what I am in need
of. Obviously not for the switches on the front panel.

Thank you very much in anticipation

PS:- As you can see, I do not have the manual for it.

I'm in the other condition - I still have a broken modem but the manual
works fine! :-)

Here's what I have on that modem, from appendix D of the manual:

(* is default. $ means switch change only recognized with power cycle)

switch function up down
1 Data Term Ready(DTR) DTR line signal DTR forced on *
2$ Message Format Words * Numbers
3$ Message Display Not displayed Displayed *
4$ Echo Commands echoed * Commands not echoed
5$ Auto Answer Forced on Disabled *
6 Carrier Detect CD Line Signal CD Forced On *
7 Clear to Send CTS Line Signal CTS Forced On *
8$ Command recognition not recognized recognized *

As I recall, 2-5 don't require power cycle as long as command recognition is
on and you do an ATZ. My modem, even before it broke entirely, never worked
reliably enough to really tell - hopefully you have a different batch!

Good luck.
