Could someone post the difference between these two new modems? I am mainly interested in the lower priced HST V.32bis modem... I currently have the upgraded V.42bis HST version so: 1> Is there an user installable upgrade to the V.32bis option like there was for the V.42bis option (and how much $$$ for this)? 2> Will the new HST V.32bis communicate with other V.32 modems such as the Hayes and other V.32 modems? I guess what I'm asking is whether V.32bis and V.32 are the same... I suspect they are not, but I'm just double checking... Thanks! No. USR redesigned the product to implement V.32bis. There is no user-installable upgrade. > 2> Will the new HST V.32bis communicate with other V.32 modems > such as the Hayes and other V.32 modems? The V.32bis recommendation mandates backward compatibility with V.32 modems. Whether or not a particular implementation succeeds at that is an open issue. I'm certain that USR _intends_ for their V.32bis modems to be backward compatible with all V.32 modems. -- Toby Nixon, Principal Engineer | Voice +1-404-449-8791 Telex 151243420 Hayes Microcomputer Products Inc. | Fax +1-404-447-0178 CIS 70271,404 P.O.
