I'm interested in getting a fax modem (Dovefax 24/96), but one things worries me. I want to be able to print out received faxes on Imagewriter at home, but the Dove people tell me that it will only print at the screen sresoklution of 72 dpi instead of the printer's 144 dpi capability. Is there anyone who uses a fax modem with an Imagewriter to print them out? Also, are outgoing faxes configured as bitmaps as in MacPaint? Any suggestions besides the Dove fax/modem for reasonable price/software/hardware reliability? Also, if I decide to go for the modem alone (2400 baud), is the "Smart One" modem a good choice? It's certainly reasonably priced! ($115 plus cable right here at software houses, and via mail order!). Mitchell Gossman mvg@pnet52.cts.com

I've received a few messages in response to my queries about Zoom modems here, and a lot of people state that they have noise immunity problems. SOOO... 1. Is there a reasonably priced (<$300) 2400/9600 fax/modem around that is of good quality? 2. Are there any modems whose software allows printing at 144 dpi (full Imagewriter-II resolution) instead of 72 dpi?
