[comp.dcom.modems] U.S. Robotics Modem Configuration Problem

        I am helping a friend to get his U.S. Robotics Password Modem
to work with another software package. Unfortunately, the modem doc's
have been lost over the last several years, and the modem initialization
strings are buried in the program.
        If anyone has knowledge of the initialization strings for this
type of modem - or good guesses - I would really appreciate any help.
I have tried already the strings for my hayes compatable (GVC1200)
[ATE1V1XQ0 S7=255 S11=55 S0=0^M].
        This may be a case of the blind leading the blind, so apologies
if this request sounds naive.
