I HAVE A SMALL PROBLEM WITH A HAYES SMARTMODEM IN MY COMPAQ DESKPRO 386.
WHEN I START THE SMARTCOM II SOFTWARE I GET AN ERROR THAT SAYS
THE SMARTMODEM IS NOT AVAILABLE. I CAN STILL USE THE MODEM IN ANY
MANUAL MODE, BUT I NEED TO RUN THE PROGRAM IN REMOTE ACCESS MODE.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THERE IS AN INCOMPATIBILITY IN MY SYSTEM?
OR WHAT CAN I DO TO GET IT WORKING?
THE MODEM AND SOFTWARE WERE WORKING GREAT IN A COMPAQ PORTABLE (XT).
