I'm trying to help out a friend with no access to Usenet. He works in a lab that's got a Microcom AX9624 modem, (2400-9600bps,MNP6). The modem was purchased before either he or his supervisor were in the shop. The problem is that the book that was packed in the box is for an earlier, lower speed modem, a 2400bps jober. There are additional switches on this baby and an additional switch pack not referenced in the docs that came with it (obviously). A call to Microcom got the answer that "When those were first sold, that was the only book we had to send". When my friend asked if there was an addendum to the book to cover the additional setting, he was told "it's not necessary". When he asked if he could send the book that was shipped BACK, and get the book that was SUPPOSED to be there originally, the guy said "NO, there's no way we could do that! What you got is what you're going to get". Bottom line is we haven't been able to get the darn thing running, because we can't account for settings/switches for which we have no info. If someone could please provide details on what the switches are all about, on both the front and back of this modem, my friend, and *I* would sure appreciate it. ============================================================================ Disclaimer - If I express an opinion, the Air Force will deny I know what I'm talking about.
