My question is about how to setup and connect a Intel 9600ex v.32 modem to a Sun workstation (SunOS 4.1.1). The Sun has a modem connected to it for some time already (at 1200 Baud). I looked in files such as "/etc/remote" and "/etc/ttytab" and it seems that the rate specified there reflects the modem transmission speed. For the new modem, I am specifically concerned about the line speed from the Sun to the modem. In order to get better throughput from data compression, I assume that the line speed should be fairly high ( >> 9600). Where can I set it, if I want to use the modem both to originate and receive calls with data compression. Any help is appreciated. -- Raimund K.
