[comp.dcom.modems] 2400 baud modems meet WY-50 terminals

frank@linc.cis.upenn.edu (Bob Frank) (03/05/91)

Here's my problem. I have a Wyse WY-50 terminal that I've been using
with a Practical Peripherals 1200 baud external modem for quite some
time without any problems. Recently, I bought a 2400 baud external
modem from a mail order house (the manufacturer is Compudyne). I set
the baud rate on the terminal to 2400 (that's the only thing I changed
on the terminal), hooked up the modem and tried to use it. But, I am
getting no output on the screen. The indicator lights on the front of
the modem go on when I type, but there is no output on the screen. I
try dialing "AT" and get nothing. When I type the command to dial
"ATDT" plus the number, the modem dials, but still I get no output.
The modem may be connecting, but I can't tell. Does anyone have any
ideas about what is happening? I'd be most appreciative!!

And, please reply by email.

			Thanks.
