Has anybody succeeded in setting up the T1600 dial back facility ?

I will summarize upon request.

The manual contains a very good description of setting the modem up
for callback security, beginning on page 4-22. It references the
"~N" command, which shows the proper format for the dialback passwords
and phone numbers in the number directory (pg 5-35).

One good technique for testing callback security is to temporarily
set the modem for pass-through security (S46=3). When you call in,
the modem will stay connected if it recognizes your password, but
will disconnect if it doesn't. This gives immediate feedback about
whether the modem liked your password or not. When you have it
working that way, you can change it to callback (S46=1 or 2).

If all else fails, call Telebit tech support toll free: 1-800-TELEBIT.
They can talk you through it and test with you on the spot instead
of waiting a day or two for replies on the net.
