[comp.dcom.modems] callback security devices

scotth@corp.sgi.com (Scott Henry) (03/29/91)

Hi!

We are interested in supporting some kind of callback modem server for the
company network. We inherited a Defender-II system which we are not
totally happy with, mostly because it's administration method is not
compatible with the way we'd like to run it. I am interested in hearing
other people's experiences with various call-back security devices. The
callback security built-in to some modems is not a viable solution,
because we need to deal with hundreds (eventually thousands) of accounts.
We are planning to use T2500's as the primary callback modem. It would be
desirable if the system were able to support UUCP & SLIP.

If you have any experience with these beasts, could you please either post
or e-mail the info to me? I'll post a summary of the e-mail responses.
Thanks a lot!
