[comp.dcom.modems] Some Info. on best Communications Server configuration...

rdthomps@vela.acs.oakland.edu (Robert D. Thompson) (04/25/91)

Would somebody mind giving me some info, insight, or comments
on their experiences in setting up a communications server.

By communications server, I mean a server that accepts multiple
incoming calls and provides some type of service to the calling
client - yea, like a BBS, only a little more automated.

The info I would appreciate includes what kind of hardware and
operating system to use. Currently, I have plans for either
a DOS or OS/2 server. DOS is obviously limited because of the
hassels of supporting more than 2 ports. OS/2 is obviously
the best alternative, but will cost more.

I would also appreciate info on the modem configurations. Should
	I use a multiport board ? Which one ?

Any related info would be appreciated.

	Thanks...Regards |(8>
