[comp.dcom.modems] T1600 and UUCP

peter@csd4.csd.uwm.edu (Peter J Diaz de Leon) (05/12/91)

We are trying to get a Telebit T1600 modem running
UUCP under ATT SYSV 3.2.1

We have UUGETTY running on the modem port.
The T1600 in set up for UUCP SYS V HDB using
the pre-stored configuration in the T1600.

The modem is running off of an ATT ports board with
hardware flow control.

However after a UUCP transfer that goes perfect
the lock file in /usr/spool/locks is not removed.
If we remove it, it just reappears over and over.

Any ideas????

		Thanks

What lock file is it? The lock file for the port, or the lock file for
the other computer?

If it's for the port, then make sure that: (a) The modem is hanging up
the phone line (not staying connected after DTR turns off), and (b) The
modem's &Cx setting is not being changed by the dial-out chat script.

A setting of &C1 is recommended over the &C2 that the pre-stored config
uses.

It is the lock file for the port.

Forgot to say that the modem is hanging up with no problem.
The uucico get terminated and the uugetty starts up like
it is supposed to do at the end of a uucp transfer.
I checked all the possible log files and everyone says
    that transfer was succesful.

Then you need to use &C1. Your uugetty is seeing the DCD signal on
(because that's what the pre-stored's &C2 does - DCD drops briefly and
turns back on) and it reacts by sending out a login prompt and opening
a lock file.
