Okay, here is what I do: I d/l files via ftp to my university's computer, and then d/l them to my amiga. The university has a top speed of 2400 baud. I d/l files from local BBSes which can support 9600 baud+ but I don't need 19.2k or 14.4k. I currently have a 2400 baud non-error-correcting modem. (GVC Super Modem 2400) So: since UST(R?) seems to be the standard in the US and my local BBSes support it, it seems like a good choice. However, I'd like to be capable of as many standards as possible, and especially desire error-correction since the university owns their phone lines instead of pac bell, (this is california) and line noise is fairly common. I have a second phone line which I use only for telecomm, so call-waiting isn't the cause of line noise. (I don't have it, intelligent me.) Now, I saw reviews of some of the newer modems floating around in this newsgroup, so I assume in the past the UST(R?) Dual Standard got a review. I'd like applicable reviews done only OVER TWO WEEKS AGO (I have all the recent reviews here on site.) for high-speed, 9600 baud TOPS (no $1000 14.4k or $1400 19.2k please.) with a max price range of $700. I plan on something like ~$400 used, but I want to see what's out there that might fall in price if I wait. Email or post, email preferred, but I'll keep up with this group for the next two weeks to follow any thread this article causes. I have no other reason to read stuff here, and I follow ~50 newsgroups anyways....;-) Wayne
