[comp.dcom.modems] T2500 link to T1000: a bad experience

venta@otello.sublink.org (Paolo Ventafridda) (05/19/91)

I've been using telebit products since 3 years ago, when i bought
a T1000 FA1.00 (first revision). At work, i bought a T1000 FA2.00
last year, when the t2500 was already available. The power supply
broke up two months ago, and it was replaced free. Then the t1000
died again, diagnostics failing on the digital/analogic chip
(error 008). It's going to be repaired. In the meantime, since
we can't live without a fast modem, i bought a new T2500 (7.0).

This unit has a lot of problems: does not link properly with the
T1000 (fa1.00 and 2.00, no matter), sometimes it does, but mostly
it fails, either with a simple no carrier or (too bad) linking
at 2400 .
Durring the night we receive usenet news, and you know, at 2400
is just terrible, expecially if we are backboning other
hosts...

I tried a lot of configurations, doesnt seem to be such a problem.
T2500 + T1000 so far is a loosing choice.

With other T2500 connection is pretty good, around 1400 cps.
The PEP handshake with T1000s simply looks buggy.

Any hint?

greetings, Paolo (italy)

You're missing some important details here, like which modem is calling
and which is answering.

It sounds like you have a very old T1000 which does not have the current
version of firmware, and a T2500 with the current version.

Try setting S120=16 on the T2500.
