As it is, I have absolutely no idea. I've never used Apple BASIC. Perhaps there's an Apple newsgroup where you could ask about this... >Steve -- .------------------------------------------------------------------------. | Greg Andrews | UUCP: {apple, amdahl, claris}!netcom!gandrews | | | Internet: gandrews@netcom.COM | `------------------------------------------------------------------------'

The guy's question was perfectly reaonable, if maybe a little dated. Maybe the question would be answered more quickly in comp.sys.apple2, but in this case, why don't *you* send him mail politely suggesting this... Maybe a flame, but your answer suggests the attitude that any questions not personally directed to, or interesting to you, are inappropriate to the group. > As it is, I have absolutely no idea. Well, regardless of how this should have been handled net-wise, I'll take a crack at answering it. The simple answer is no. There is no Applesoft command to drop DTR. What you must do is POKE some value into a register of the communications card. Unfortunately, because of the age of the Apple bus, there is no standard for comm cards or their control registers. You need to get the docs for your particular comm card and find the magic values. If you want to hang up, it's probably more practical to do a +++ escape and then ATH (assuming you are talking to a Hayes-compatible modem). Sorry there isn't an easier answer. You might check Apple-type BBS's for more wisdom on this subject. -- Jay S. Rouman Voice: 517/773-7887 | Distrust education. Two of E-mail: jsr@dexter.mi.org | the three R's are misspelled.
