[comp.dcom.modems] Busy Signals

apollo@pro-hindugods.cts.com (Amrit Chauhan) (06/05/91)

Hello. I have an Intel 9600ex modem. I use an Apple //gs. I have
ProLine...ok, when I use my modem, sometimes, especially on long distance
calls, the modem does not pick up a busy signal as readily. It will go to
a no connect even though it's actually busy. Anyone know what is wrong?
Is there a way to boost the "NOISE" in the phone line so the modem picks up
a busy signal. On local casll, it'll get it in about 1.5 seconds...on long
distance, about 2, and sometimes never. Any ideas? Thanks

Amrit
