Hi, I'm a NUWDQRA (new user with a dumb question requesting advice). Is there anyone out there subscribing to this group who is actually involved in the design of modems, including modulation and synchronization schemes? I'm trying to come up with a better mouse-trap, one that is able to very rapidly synchronize on the received signal for a simplex (half duplex) radio channel. My current belief is that either pi/4-shift QAM or Gaussian-filtered MSK would be most suitable, but although these sound impressive, I'm looking for references and pointers on where to go from here. If anyone out there has any ideas, suggestions, or can point me to a more suitable newsgroup, your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading, Rudi (rudolf@sirius.uvic.ca)
