<INFO-MODEMS-REQUEST@WSMR-SIMTEL20.ARMY.MIL> Here's a problem that has the Multi-Tech support people stymied. I though throw it out for suggestions. Any and all would be appreciated. Hardware: Zenith 286, Multi-Tech EC2400 internal modem. Software: Procomm Plus Configuration: Com 1 ISN network, Com 2 Microsoft serial mouse, Com 4 modem. The Problem: I pulled the modem card out of a Zenith 386 where it worked fine. When I installed it into the 286 all would appear normal i.e., it dialed, found a carrier, but then no response. It was installed in com 3. I called Multi-Tech and they said the serial mouse (386 had a bus mouse) was conflicting with the modem (something about IRQ conflicts, but I'm no techie) Anyway we played with the dip switches. And Com 4 seemed to work. And it does, sometimes. Sometimes it answers the carrier, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I lose my mouse and have to reboot after a modem session. Sometimes it won't respond to a carrier and I still lose my mouse. So there it is as best as I can explain it. I've been on the phone to Multi- Tech support several times. I get different answers from different people. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions to this irritating problem would be most appreciated. This may sound funny but I would try using the unit from com1 or com2. Support for Com3 and Com4 can be flaky. Are you using windows by any chance? If yes that could very well be your problem. Vernon
