Hello... My brother is going to France for a year and would like to have access to Cornell while there. Access options include BITNET, Internet, Telenet, UUCP (?), etc. What modem standards are susupported in France (Paris in particular, not that it should make any difference)? Is ISDN readily accesible? What are the charges for using a data modem on the public telephone network? Should he purchase a modem here (given the current exchange rate), or there (for compatibility)? Any real-world experiences would be informative. Respond directly to me and I'll summarize here.
