[comp.terminals] ANSI standard or modified ANSI keyboards for the PC et al.

jag@entire.xerox.com (John A. Gallant) (12/19/87)

Does anyone out there have recomentations for ANSI format keyboards, for
the various PC clones out there. We are running Interactive Systems, (ISC),
port of Unix System V.3 on PC clones with Intels 80386 mother board. Much to
my dismay, (and hand cramps :-), the XT keyboard has the most important Unix
keys in the WRONG!!! place. My history is with using VT*** look alikes attached
to systems, if I had a dime for every time I have typed "`" instead of ESC ...
I have found two vendors, keytronic and OAK, that have a something close to
my ideal keyboard. Keytronic is currently in the lead, with minuses on the
location of the DEL, (my INTR) and the "~" key, (mailx and cu). OAK at least
has the ESC and "~" correct.

If any one has ideas or help for a frustrated fellow hacker, please let me
know. Right now e-mail is the prefered method, my free time is limited and
I don't get much time to read all groups I would like. Thank you.
